I hope everyone is safe and staying home as much as possible during this tough time. As you know, the national pandemic has changed everything in our lives, from how we shop for groceries and feed, to how we visit our friends and family. The POAC is no different. We have had to make many changes on how we run the National Office, process mail, cover phone messages and e-mails, and just the day to day practices that we have established over the years. At this time, because the state of Indiana is under mandatory shut-down, the POA National Office is closed. We are monitoring phone and e-mail messages daily. Mail is being held at our post office at this time. All POA national approved shows and events have been cancelled through May 4th, however I expect this to be extended soon.

The POAC is now offering virtual horse show classes on Facebook and we are getting a great participation from all over the country...and beyond! This is a free opportunity to submit videos of you and your family doing pattern or rail work on your own farm. You will be judged by approved POA Judges and the winners will receive a prize! What a great way to stay connected to the show world and not even leave your farm.

The 2020 POA National Convention is in the history books. We had a wonderful banquet this year. Not only did we give away some great Year-End Awards (made by POA member David Brewer of Tennessee) but we also recognized some fantastic Hall of Fame recipients, Golden Legacy Award winner, Supreme Champion Award recipients, and Family of the Year presentation. The field trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and to the Indianapolis Mounted Police Barn was an informative and fun filled day for many! I already have ideas for next year...hmmm...where can we go???

This is definitely going to be a year for patience and flexibility. We are going to be trying to reschedule shows and other events to fit in a smaller window this year. We do not currently know what this spring and summer is going to hold for anyone, including horse shows, but we will be working with everyone to make things work whenever possible. Patience is not my strongest virtue, and I know many that can join the same team. Over the last several weeks I have learned that right now, there are too many unknowns. One thing for sure, our POA Family is strong and will join as one to make our organization work for the best of everyone...stay safe and healthy...and as always, hug your ponies and your kids (same household please for now)!!!
