Indiana POAC Newsletter
Indiana POAC is still recruiting members, families and ponies for the 2014 show season! The club kicked off the year with a membership meeting on January 18, 2014. Despite the snowy weather, the club welcomed two new families and is happy to meet additional faces at the next membership meeting February 9, 2014 – 2 p.m. at Chicago’s Pizza, Greenfield, IN.
The year of 2014 will be an exciting season of change. In line with the National POAC, Indiana will be offering all new lead line classes, adult 19 and over classes and the novice youth program. With these additional classes, we will be requiring each member to designate a high point class division in which they will be competing for the year prior to the first show. Available high point designations will be: Lead line 6 and under, 8 and under, 9-12, 13-18, novice youth, 19 and over – multi-pony, youth gymkhana/gaming or all around. Please plan to designate which pony(s) you will be riding for high point. Due to the lengthy show schedule and for a little fun, the youth will be sponsoring a dinner every Saturday throughout the season. Watch for an opportunity to donate or just eat with the youth events!
At the membership meeting in January, members present voted to not include a split show bill in 2014. Please refer to the State webpage www.inpoac.com for updates with the new classes, show bills and pre-entry forms as they become available. Currently you can find maps for all IN POAC show locations.
We hope you and your ponies are all staying warm this cold winter season. There are lots of exciting things happening with our youth club. At our next membership meeting, on February 9th, we will be holding a youth meeting to elect youth officers -president, vice president, and secretary as well as adult youth advisors. If anyone wishes to nominate someone you can contact Trisha Chapman for youth officers and Charlene Shingleton for adult youth advisors. All youth are encouraged to attend and vote! Have you kids been wondering what to do while you're cooped up inside staying out of the cold? Put your creative imaginations to work and come up with a design for our t-shirt contest. Designs are due to Trisha Chapman by February 14th and the winner will get a free shirt!! Another exciting opportunity is coming up on March 8th. We will have a showmanship clinic at the Henry County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Indiana. John and Tye Carson of Carson Training Center will be the clinicians and will do a fabulous job. All members are invited to join, stay tuned for more details. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming youth events. Until then take care and stay warm! Sincerely, Your King & Queen, Jack & Sable Tearman
