I have shown horses since I was in my mothers womb. It is a part of me. I am not the person to sit here and write about all my accomplishments that I have earned since I started showing. I would rather talk about the things that I have learned. Simple things such as believing in yourself, be consistent as it eventually pays off, always be prepared, smile and do not blame your horse. No one will ever truly enjoy showing until they bond and become best friends with the horse.
I have had JOF Skipp a Scotch for about nine and a half years now. My mom and I have had our moments when we just wanted to sell her and give up, but we didn't. I am very grateful that Darren Vincent kept telling us not to give up on her. "Penny" is my best friend, and we finally figured it out together and became a great team. I have had many horses to show, nineteen years worth to be exact, and I have loved every single one of them for who they have made me today. I have never moved on to another breed because I enjoy the people I meet in POA, the people that you can compete against then go have a great time with right after. I will never forget the memories I have made and the friends I was fortunate enough to meet. Be modest, humble and simple, it will take you much farther than you ever expected.
I feel no need to say good bye to anyone because I'm not going anywhere. I will be showing in the JPFC and 19 & over classes. It isn't that easy to get rid of me. I will still continue to give lessons and train the youth in Arizona. I cannot just leave the things I care most about. Emily you are one of my best friends and this may be our last year showing together but college and thousands of miles is not going to stop us from being friends. The Rainey, Taylor and Thunberg families, thank you so much for giving me the chance to train your wonderful ponies and the girls; Marlie, Sierra and Carly. A special thanks to my mom and grandma for supporting me in everything I do. I would be nowhere in life without you two and appreciate everything you have done for me. Thank you to all the wonderful people and ponies in POAC that have made the years so memorable.
