Merry Christmas to you and your family…I wish you the best for 2019 and I hope that you will keep the “spots” active!!! I am looking forward to starting a new year with new goals and activities for POAC…we are excited about our schedule of events and I hope that all of you can attend some or all of them with us!
February 22-24, 2019 is our POAC National Convention in Indianapolis IN at the Crown Plaza Airport. The schedule for this convention is very different from previous conventions, so be sure to look at the itinerary before making your travel plans. Committees will meet privately on Friday and then have an open door session Saturday for questions from the membership. The Board of Directors meeting is open to all and will be held on Friday afternoon. We have some great speakers planned, and will be offering a really fun sightseeing trip for all interested on Saturday afternoon. Be sure to read the 2019 Convention Attractions page in this issue for more information!
Show season will be here before we know it, and national events that are currently scheduled include an East World Show in June, West World Show in July, National Congress Show in July, and the International Sale and Futurity in September. Be sure to check “Dates to Remember” in this issue for exact locations and dates for these exciting events.
We had a great Sale and Futurity Show this past September at Gordyville USA in Rantoul IL. Sale prices were very good and our sale averages were better than most years! Several new families have joined our POA Family across the country. We have notified the State Clubs that have new families with POAs from the sale, so if these families are in one of your states, please try to make them feel welcome, invite them to your club events, and help them with questions they may have.
This 2018 year has also been a difficult one for our POA Family. We have lost so many POA members this year. Just within the past two weeks, we have lost Norm Stevenson, TX and Ken Steele, AL. Both of these men were tremendous breeders and promoters for the POA Organization and both will be terribly missed. When I hear the song “One More Day”, I think of these long-time friends and members and realize how true the words are. Take time to get to know your POA Family, as you never know when the last time you see them will be. There is such a wealth of knowledge lost with each one that is taken.
Well, until next time, hug your ponies and your kids…
