Sarah Clymer & Pal Lance

Happy New Year to all of our POA Family and Friends! This was our family’s first year to be involved in the POA organization and it has been a wonderful experience. I have dreamed of riding since I was four, but, I couldn’t connect with the right trainer. Then I found the best trainer in the world-Megan Vanderslice. Megan was able to guide and nurture me through all that it takes to prepare for showing.

For me, 2009 was a year filled with POA “firsts”. Megan found my first show pony, Odyssey’s Obsession (OBIE) at the Nitti’s home in Mesa, Arizona. As soon I discovered, Obie was well known in this area, and I met many new friends through people who knew him. With Obie, I attended many shows throughout the Midwest, with the grand finale at the International in St. Louis.

The International was a wonderful experience, but it was also bittersweet. It was my first AND last International with Obie-he was sold to the Heise family. There is nothing more wonderful than your first, AND there is nothing more painful than saying goodbye to him! Thank you, Kate and Russell, for giving Obie such a wonderful home! I love it when you send me emails and photos. I love you, Obie, and when I see you again I’ll have some oranges for you! The beginning of a new year is so exciting-so much to look forward to. As for me, I have another year of “firsts” to experience with an incredible new pony-Pal Lance (Jaxon). What a blessing Jaxon is! He is such an incredible pony! It is so exciting to grow and develop as a rider in a new way. I love discovering what Jaxon is all about, and I am learning so much from him and Megan! I can’t wait until this time next year to see what “firsts” I have to reflect on with Jaxon!

As the New Year begins, I would like to thank those who have helped make my dreams come true. First, Megan, words can’t express what you mean to me and to my family! Thank you for teaching me-not only how to be a good rider, but, also how to be a good person. Your influence on my life is something I will always cherish. Miss Erin, Miss Kim, Miss Molly and Miss Terri, you are the best show/barn moms in the world! Thank you all for helping and supporting me in so many ways! To Mr. Doug & Miss Kim, thank you for Jaxon!!! He is awesome! To my barn sisters: PARRIS, I miss you! You are such a great role model! EMMA-you’re my best friend! I love you and I will always be there for you! “GG”, you are a great girl and so fun! JESSE-I miss you! JAMIE, You are THE BEST MOM EVER!

From watching “Yes Man” the night before the International to judging Mr. McFly outside of WalMart! Mom & Dad, I love you with all of my heart-thank you for everything! Thank you so much for all the sacrifices you make to let me live out my dream! You both mean the world to me! Most of all, thank you, God! You have blessed me with so much!

Happy New Year to all of you and have a great show season! May 2010 bring each one of you good health, much joy, and great success in the arena!

See y”all at the next show!
