POA Magazine Cover Story

October 2009

Made by POA Ranch Germany

For more than twenty years we have been breeding horses, however, many years ago we decided only to breed Quarter Horses and these terrific colored small western horses with an outstanding character: The Pony of the Americas! Since that very day the two of us and our four children did have lots of fun with our imported broodmares, stallions and their offspring.

Our breeding program is based on international highly awarded POA and Quarter Horse foundation bloodlines. To start our breeding program: “Pony of the Americas made by POA-Ranch Germany” we bought many POAs all over the States and made many very precious friendships. First of all we would like to honor Jan and Dean Rodgers from RisingR-POAs in Iowa. Through all the years they were always with us: giving valuable suggestions, imparting their enormous knowledge, arranging transports and quarantine, moderating contact with other POA breeders. Moreover we came to know our families and a close bond of friendship was tied. Almost every day an e-mail does go cross the ocean and many parcels have been exchanged.
However, there are many more people to being mentioned: Lil and Ben Sosinski from Sosinski’s POAs in Michigan, Kim Lintner from Sagebrush Farm in Indiana and Lisa Reckon from Skyrock POAs in California. All of them are very special for us and we love to discuss many different topics with each other.

We were proud to being asked to translate the great book of the POA breed from BJ Spahr. Thanks to BJ Spahr for supporting us and thanks to all of you to giving permission to publishing the photos. It took many sleepless nights to get the book translated and quite some money. Nevertheless despite our kids we spent everything for promoting, showing and breeding these great little horses. We are proud to having been able to do all traveling, promoting and breeding without any external funds.

Last not least we would like to express our profound thanks to Lynda and Missy Corn from the POA office who always were of enormous help in many different ways.

We do breed with top broodmares and outstanding stallions, most of them should be very familiar to you as they were shown and promoted in the states, many of them being multiple Grand champions. The goal of our breeding program is to raise horses for leisure, the showring and the breeding pen. We are happy to have infected an innumerable number of kids and their families with the benign POA virus here in Germany and even in France!
