Happy fourth birthday Emily!
Daddy and I just wanted
to let you know that you are the light of our lives and
that we love you so much. It is hard to believe that
it has already been four years since you were born. I
cannot believe how quickly times goes. You will be starting
pre-K in August and that just doesn’t seem possible.
We would like to begin by thanking Stephen and Rhea
Brown for allowing you to show their ponies Suncrests
Pied Piper and M&N’s Rhetts Royal King in leadline
the last two years. Emily absolutely loved both those
ponies. In fact, she still tells me that when she gets
bigger she is going to show Piper. I think that we may
be in trouble. Also, we owe a big thank you to Rodney
and Kyle Holmes for letting Emily use Driftwoods Montego
Bay for leadline costume at the International last year.
To this day she still talks about riding him. I think
that has been the highlight of her show career so far,
and I am sure that none of use will ever forget the quick
change at the last minute with Kyle and I sharing the
costume or her unique story. It still brings a smile
to my face when I think about “that dang dead bear!” We
also need to thank Marsha for letting us borrow the dress
and shoes for the costume class as well. You all were
wonderful and we appreciated your help so much.
During last show season, the highlight for me was Emily
winning Leadline Equitation at the Southeast Regional
in Shelbyville, Tennessee. I know that people thought
we were nuts when we strapped Copy on the back of Roy
so that Emily could teach her life size doll to ride,
but hey the things we do for our children. Let me tell
you riding Roy with Emily was not the only thing that
Copy did with us last summer. When we went to eat we
had to get two high chairs so that Copy could eat too!
Thank you Granny for getting Copy for Emily. She loves
her and she will always be her special friend.
We ended our show season at the Halloween Show in Tulsa,
Oklahoma. Emily finally got to take her Tessa to a show.
What a good time we had. Tessa was such a good sport.
She even let us put tennis shoes on all four of her feet
for costume. Emily had a wonderful time doing showmanship,
leadline, trail, and games with Tess. Well, I don’t
know if she really enjoyed the games, but she was a good
sport about it anyway. My favorite part of the show was
when she said, “Mommy why are we doing jumping
jacks?” when we were trotting in 6 & U pleasure.
Those are the memories that I will cherish forever.
Now that we have moved to Texas we are embarking on
a whole new journey in life. Daddy and I are anxious
to see where it leads us, but the one thing we know for
sure is that it will be all the more sweeter with you
in it!
Happy Birthday Sweetie.
We love you!
