June
2006
Shalene Shingleton
On June 10, 2006 I will turn 18 years old. As
you can image I will be spending my birthday at the
Southeast POA Regional in Shelbyville, Tenn. We have
been doing my birthday there since 2000. What better
way to spend your birthday than with my greatest POA
friends.
I
have been showing POAs since 1995 when my parents bought
my first pony WSF Tough Chick from John, Jackie and
Jamie Carr in Indiana. No one every dreamed it would
become our families life for so long. Jackie Carr and
Vickie Craver told my Mom when I was born a true POA
rider has been born. I guess they were right, I have
ridden all my life so far and mostly on POAs.
Over
the years I have owned several POAs that have taken
me far, but only one has given me so much in so many
ways and that is Bobby Sox Plaudit.
Bobby
Sox came into our lives in the year of 1997. I had
out grown Mr. Q.T. Cash, who was only 50 inches tall.
Dick Corn told us about Bobby Sox in August of 1997.
Dick said Bobby Sox would finish me throughout the
rest of my POA youth years. My mom made a phone call
to his previous owner Dee & Chrissy Meeks. After
an hour on the phone with Dee we called John Boettcher
who owned Bobby Sox and told him he was sold!
Bobby
Sox Plaudit has been my soul mate for the last nine
years. We have won many awards along the way including
International High points, World Show High point, Eastern
Classic High point. Bobby Sox won the Gelding stakes
at the 2001 and 2004 International Shows and won the
Agee Family Memorial Gelding Award at the 2001 International.
I have also won many Regional High points including
the Mideast Regional, Midwest Regional, Mid America
Regional, Northeast Regional, Rocky Mountain Regional
and Southeast Regional. In Indiana Bobby Sox and I
have been High point each year in our age group since
1998. Bobby Sox has also been Indiana's Most Versatile
Pony since 1999.
Bobby
Sox and I have also won the Florida Turkey Circuit
High point, Oklahoma Halloween Show High point and
the Northeast Gobbler High point. We also have won
High point Gaming pony Award at the International Show.
As you can see Bobby Sox Plaudit and I have been very
busy the last nine years.
As
we start the 2006 show season we have already made
a trip to an Oklahoma state show and the Mid America
Regional in Texas. We just love to travel and visit
with all our POA friends along the way.
I
have met a lot of neat people along the way and the
list is very long. Everyone is dear to me, but there
are a few that stick out—Hamptons-Morris, OK; McKenzie's,
OK; Horrocks, MI; Littles, NJ; Banisters, IN; Tom Walmsley,
IL; Daniels, IL; Sommervilles, IA; and Payne, IL. Without
all of you a show just isn't complete. Tom Walmsley
we should really go bowling again!
I look forward to seeing
everyone on the rail in 2006. Good luck to everyone in
the 2006 show season.
I would like to give one final thanks
to my parents. Without you guys I would never have been
able to achieve any of this. Thanks a million.

Shalene,
We wish you the best this year and hope all
your dreams come true.
Love
Mom & Dad
