Sugar Creek Farms
The first time I asked for a pony, I was learning to
talk. My parents eventually let me have horses, but it
was 16 years later that I asked for a pony again and
got the real thing.
At the 2003
International, I saw Kim Belford show CN Silver Leprechaun
(Patrick) in a class. I loved him instantly. I was shocked
to find out that Patrick was for sale and even more shocked
when, after pointing him out to my parents and crossing
my fingers, they let me ask Kim if I could try him. He
was intended for my sister, but I was thrilled anyway.
After Patrick and Kim finished their season and he came
to Sugar Creek Farms, my sister lost interest in riding,
which meant Patrick was mine.
2004 and 2005
held a lot of success for us. In addition to placing
well at state shows, regionals, the Eastern Classic, and the International,
Patrick finished the seasons in the national standings for medium geldings
and as highpoint medium gelding in Illinois both years. In 2005, we also won
highpoint junior pony in Illinois.
Between riding
Patrick and meeting the awesome people of the POAC, the
past two years have been unbelievable. I’m excited to show Patrick and
my new yearling, Silver Diva this year.
Kim and Evie,
I can’t thank you enough for selling me Patrick
and being there to help us out. Congratulations on your
success in 2005 and good luck in 2006!
Tom, Kenny,
and Cathy, thank you for helping us become a team. Your
expertise and encouragement have made a huge difference.
The Whites,
thanks for introducing me to POAs and for great memories!
Good luck this year, Sarah and Laurel!
Jenny, thank
you so much for selling me Diva. Your ponies are incredible
and I’m thrilled
to have the opportunity to own one!
Mom and Dad,
thanks for always doing whatever you can to help make
my dreams reality. Dad, thanks for making sure I have horses to ride and a place
to ride them. Mom, without your willingness to help me, even with your busy schedule,
I would never have gotten into the ring. Thank you.
Dan, thanks
for always coming to watch me and for not minding my
stops at the barn for chores before we go out. Your support means so much.
Patrick,
the first things I noticed about you were your talent
and looks, but as I’ve
gotten to know you, I’ve realized that they are
a result of the charming personality, almost eerie intelligence,
and huge heart you possess. You have truly been a dream
come true. I’ll never know how you get out of the
locked arena or why you love the boys’ roping dummy,
but I do know that I will never find another pony like
you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being
you (and taking care of my Mom while I’m gone!).
I can’t wait for
show season—I know you’ll make it our best
yet.
